The most important thing I did today was teaching my last lesson in this teaching practice. I taught science, and I applied differentiation for the first time. After teaching seven lessons, my awareness about the effects of differentiation highly increased. I observed how it helped students to get the concepts easily and also, help teachers to teach successfully. I was proud and happy after my teaching session because I successes in engaging learners and I matched their needs perfectly. After each lesson, I discovered how much I liked teaching, and I felt satisfied with choosing this major. I believed that if teachers loved their career, their performance would be great, and students will benefit more.
Another important incident today, was observing my MST applying differentiation in English, I was amazed. I liked the types of activities because students were able to complete tasks perfectly. Further, I liked the tools that she used in activities such as allowing learners to used dictionaries. This is my first time, to saw students using dictionaries and I liked how they were able to find words they were looking for. I think it is a good strategy because it allows students to deal with different type of print and improved their reading skills.
Also, it was a good opportunity for me to assist students’ reading when my MST asked me to take students one by one and record their reading by using Raz-kids website. This website is really useful for students because it includes many e-books and stories and it divides into different levels. Students are required to use this website at home and practice reading skills. However, my MST explained that the percentage of students who used this website is really low that why she allowed students to use the website inside the classroom.
At the end of the day, we take students to the library to use another website called question a day. In my opinion, offering educational websites from ADEC is useful, and it supports students' development in many areas especially when parents are cooperative.
