It is the end of my third week in Al-Qimma primary school where I live an essential experience which developed my teaching skills in every single day. Today, I taught my last math lesson which was genuinely great from many aspects. When I started this teaching practice, I questioned myself a lot if I can apply differentiation correctly but today I found the answer and I were so satisfied with my abilities. I learned how to divide my students into levels and how to match activities with their zone of proximal development. In my opinion, this knowledge is essential for any primary teacher because it allowed teachers impact students’ performance and guide them to make significant progress.
The most exciting thing today was my monitor school and college teachers feedback where I reach excellent in all areas. I was so happy because my hard work at the end evaluated fairly which something I hadn’t experienced in last teaching practice. These feedback increase my confident about my teaching skills and encourage me to grow professionally. On the other hand, I was proud when I observed how my students acquired new concepts in the lesson greatly especially low-level learners. Also, it was my pleasure when I taught the challenging class 3 J, and it goes very well comparing to what happened on Monday.
Another important incident today was when my MST asked me to take her place in teaching science session because the principle required her to come immediately. I wasn’t ready or prepared for the lesson, but I can say I handle it very well and when my MST come back she was pleased that I covered her place successfully. I learned from this situation how much I benefit from having teaching practice every semester and how it prepared me to be a real teacher.
Today I realized how I create a great relationship with my students and I think it is my first time to have strong feelings toward my students. On the other hand, I found my students so interactive with me for example, almost every student today asked me why I wasn’t on the trip with them yesterday and how great it would be if I joined them. Students wrote letters to me, bring me sweets and I had a student who invited me to her sister’s wedding. Also, in playtime, they asked me to play with them, and when I can’t, they set beside me and start chatting and asked terrific questions. When I heard their questions, it blows my mind I was impressed with their ways of thinking. I realized how important is it to establish a positive relationship with students and how it made my teaching journey interesting. I think it was one of favorite teaching day where I enjoyed every moment, and I can’t forget to mention how I enjoyed the great weather too.
