Today my monitor school teacher was absent, and we were asked to stay with our classes where alternative teachers teach them. As a result, I postponed my today lesson to the next week, and I had enough time to work on my lesson plan for tomorrow observation. For instance, I tested the experiment that I wanted to implemented tomorrow, and for the first time it failed, and I tried it three times until it worked perfectly.
The most noticeable thing today was observing the social worker dealing with a fight between three students from grade four where she punished them by preventing them from going to the break time. These students stayed in the classroom and started copying the list of words for more than 60 times. This punishment, in my opinion, was a little bit harsh but I think it worked very well with these students and at the end, they apologize for misbehaving.
Another thing that happened today was the meeting with the school principal who asked us to gather suddenly in her office. When the meeting finished I was so upset because I didn’t like the way the principal talked about some stuff, for example, she offended one of the student teachers about her clothes in an inappropriate way. I think her tendency to teach us how to be “professional” gave bad ideas about her management skills because insulting trainee teachers is not a professional attitude.
This incident makes me extremely mad until this moment because one of my core values in life is respect. Each human being should treat people respectfully regardless of his/her position and authority because, in the end, your attitude towards others will last forever not your position.
