Day 5:

Updated: Oct 20, 2018

Today was the second day where I was supposed to teach three sections of grade four similar to what I did yesterday. Unfortunately, this didn’t go as I planned because students had to do their question a day task. I was only able to teach one class for 45 minutes, while the other sections I only taught them for 25-30 minutes which prevented me from implementing my whole lesson plan. My MST had to take her six sections to the library to do their Question a Day task and this required us to go up and down stairs numerous times, and at the end of the day, I had terrible pain on my legs because I walked more than 3000 steps.

I discussed with my MST the process I observed last semester in another school they followed to finish question a day task which was more practical. Instead of moving the whole class to another place they brought two laptops in the classroom and students did their task individually one by one and I think this was much better than what I saw today because it saves students time as well as teachers.

I was a little bit disappointed because I was not able to teach full periods, but I learned to adapt with such situations and I the right way to cut some parts from my lesson plan. For example, with the two sections, I was only able to teach the warming up activity and the main activity where we did the plant and vinegar experiment. The most interesting thing today was the excitement among my students when they were noticing the experiment, and they had to wait until the next week to see the results which in my opinion, will increase their interest in learning.
