Today was the science day for grade four students because the school is organizing a science week where students experience a variety of scientific experiments in the science laboratory. Consequently, I took with my monitor school teacher all the students, class by class to the laboratory. The most interesting thing about the science day was the way experiments were delivered because it was student-centered activities. There were selected students from high learning level sections to explain and apply the different experiments. Furthermore, the level of students’ engagement, especially those who belong to the low level of learning, was significant which should encourage teachers to organize more similar events.
Another important incident today was the fire drew where the bell rang suddenly, and the teacher took the situation seriously and followed different actions. The first thing she did was asking students to leave everything on their hands and line up. Then she took a file that was hanged in the wall and it titled by fire drill safety rules and asked students to move downstairs. The MST took from the file the class list and a card that had a green color in one side and red color in the other side. Before my MST called the students names, the red side of the card was raised by a student and after the MST took the attendance the card switched to the green side. When I heard the bill and observed the way my MST was handling the situation I thought was a real danger, and I was afraid something terrible was happening until I heard a student said this is not real, then I relieved from my worries and observed the school process in such training.
